4 Million Visitors For Yosemite’s 150th Anniversary

Summer in Yosemite National Park is full of tourists and RVs and screaming children and “CAMPGROUND FULL” signs, but there are ways to avoid the teeming masses. Generally, just stay out of the Valley. 

Specifically, get up to the alpine meadows or Hetch Hetchy, and be ready at dawn if you want to claim a campsite—away from the always busy Yosemite Valley, a lot of campgrounds keep around half of the sites available for “first come, first served” campers.
